Kanye West - Monster Video

Kanye West - Monster Video
Crazy lyrics, sick video, and killer cast.  Click on the link below to watch the new Kanye West Monster Video.  Featuring Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, and Rick Ross.  The early 21st century Thriller is here, and while Kanye can't dance, he does bring a scary depth to his new album.

Element YMCA Skate Camp

Element YMCA Skate Camp
Forget about band camp, soccer camp, and definitely summer school. Sign up for Element YMCA Skate Camp in Sequoia Lake California. There are sessions from June through August 2011.  The camp is for kids from 8 -17.  Campers learn the basics of wilderness survival, make their own skateboard, learn deck skills, lake activities, and there's a guitar workshop. Not everyone can make the trip out to Sequoia Lake, but there are numerous skate camps popping up across the U.S.  Ask your local skate shop about more information.

Sleigh Bells - Treats

Sleigh Bells - Treats
Upon first listen Sleigh Bells is just a heavy electronic drum beat with some unintelligible female lyrics. However, after initially dismissing the album I returned to it again, and again, and now I can't stop listening to it. Think Beck mashed with the White Stripes with a female lead singer. This Brooklyn duo of Derek E. Miller and Alexis Krauss can really bring it and while it might take a few listens to really enjoy it, just click repeat and keep listening. Click below to listen to Tell 'Em.

Hipstamatic iPhone App

Hipstamatic iPhone App
Make every picture look better. This simple App allows you to take incredible pictures with your iPhone. For $1.99 you get the basic package, which has more than enough to take your pics from boring to artsy. There are numerous filters, flashes, and effects that makes it look like you took your picture with a specialty camera instead of your iPhone. I'm not a huge fan of paying for apps, but this one is worth it.

Grooveshark

Grooveshark - Listen to Free Music
I've officially made the switch. Pandora was my online music player of choice, but recently I've been loving Grooveshark. It can be a bit of a challenge to find full albums, but you can't beat GS for individual songs. Especially those hard to find singles. Create an account so that you can save playlists, or just listen to songs with zero commitment.

Best Coast - Crazy for You

Best Coast - Crazy for You
Ranked # 14 on Spin Magazine's Top 40 of 2010, Crazy for You by Best Coast is a chill Cali album featuring lead singer Bethany Cosentino.  If you're looking for a relaxed female sound with simple catchy lyrics then this is the album for you.  Think Liz Phair meets Pete Yorn on Manhattan Beach.  On almost every album I've ever reviewed it's easy to pick a song or two to feature, this time it was more difficult.  Every song is pretty similar and none are particularly memorable.  Listen to this album on grooveshark or pandora, but don't bother picking it up.  Click below for Up All Night.

Law & The Multiverse

Florence & The Machine

Florence & The Machine - Lungs
Without question one of the best albums of 2010. Starting with the commercial hit Dog Days are Over and following through with Kiss With a Fist and Between Two Lungs this album doesn't miss. It's a collection of catchy beats, incredible lyrics, and is strung together with a common sound. If you're going to buy one album this year that isn't on the Top 40, this is it.
